Branched-chain amino acids for patients with hepatic encephalopathy
This review found that branched-chain amino acids (AACR) were associated with a beneficial effect on cirrhosis-associated hepatic encephalopathy. Evidence suggested that BCAAs should be considered in the treatment of people with hepatic encephalopathy.. Adverse events were not serious and included mainly gastrointestinal symptoms.. There was no evidence to support or refute an effect of BCAAs on mortality., quality of life or nutritional outcomes.
